Licensing/registration of food business is mandatory as per Section 31 of the FSS Act, 2006. The procedure for licensing and registration of food businesses and the conditions, sanitary and hygienic requirements for all food businesses have been covered under Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulation 2011.
FSSAI launched Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS) in 2020, which is an enhanced version of the Food Licensing and Registration System (FLRS), for issuance of FSSAI licenses and registration pan-India. FoSCoS is built using latest technology with a vision to have a modern one stop pan-India IT platform for engagement of FBO with the department for any regulatory compliance related activities. It has been developed with informative user interfaces, wherein the information regarding Standardized Food Products, Eligibility Criteria, and Documents required for licensing and other resource materials may be easily accessed.
